Kinji Fukasaku, director de cine:
"The prostate cancer has spread to bones in my head, shoulders, back, rib, hip and thigh, almost everywhere. I take anticancer drugs in the morning and night and get chemotherapy once every two months to try and suppress the cancer cells. However, an acute pain still runs through my back and hip, so I have to take morphine," he said.(...)
"I am not sure which is the best thing to do for a man like me — quit such follies and hope to live longer or continue to do whatever I like. Every one of us has different values, I do not know what is right and wrong. Either way, it is not so important for me now since it is too late."
(...)
Fukasaku will start filming "Battle Royale II" in December. "I'm emotionally ready for death. Now I want to have some fun and nothing gives me as much pleasure as making a movie. It was a great pleasure for me to make the first one with such cheerful children and see their growth throughout the period. 'Battle Royale' is the most loved of my works. So I'm going to throw as much of myself as I can into the sequel."
