I take anticancer drugs in the morning and night and get chemotherapy once every two months to try and suppress the cancer cells. However, an acute pain still runs through my back and hip, so I have to take morphine," he said.

Fukasaku will start filming "Battle Royale II" in December. "I'm emotionally ready for death. Now I want to have some fun and nothing gives me as much pleasure as making a movie. It was a great pleasure for me to make the first one with such cheerful children and see their growth throughout the period. 'Battle Royale' is the most loved of my works. So I'm going to throw as much of myself as I can into the sequel."
