Sven Nykvist 1922 - 2006

Oscar-winning Swedish filmmaker Sven Nykvist, who was director Ingmar Bergman's cinematographer of choice, has died after a long illness, his son said. He was 83.

Nykvist won Academy Awards for best cinematography for the Bergman films "Cries and Whispers" in 1973 and "Fanny and Alexander" in 1982.

"Together with Ingmar, he created movie history with those lighting arrangements," said Carl-Gustaf Nykvist, who directed the 2000 documentary "Light Keeps Me Company" about his father.

"He was called 'the master of light' because of the moods and atmospheres he could create with light. It was a near impossibility to create the moods he created."

Un verdadero maestro. Además de su trabajo con Bergman ne encanta lo que hizo con Woody Allen, especialmente Crimes and Misdemeanors, y Lasse Hallstrom en What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, además de La Insoportable Levedad del Ser de Kaufman.

'La Danza...' en la FIL Monterrey

Mi multi-premiado y recien casado cuate Raúl Treviño me pidió que fuera el presentado/moderador de la presentación en la FIL de Monterrey de su album La Danza de la Conquista, publicado por Norma Editorial y me acaba de confirmar la fecha.

La cita es el próximo 16 de octubre a las 19:30 horas en la Sala 102, en CINTERMEX. Rulo estará ahí para autografiar ejemplares de la obra que estarán a la venta.

Un equipo de médicos de China asegura haber llevado a cabo el primer trasplante de pene de la historia. El paciente, de 44 años, sufrió un accidente que le dejó con un órgano sexual de apenas un centímetro de longitud. Los doctores le operaron durante 15 horas para colocarle el pene de 10 centímetros de un hombre en situación de muerte cerebral al que doblaba en edad y cuyo hijo donó su órgano. La intervención fue un éxito, pero por motivos psicológicos el paciente decidió, de común acuerdo con su mujer, que el pene implantado le fuera retirado.
